The US Coast Guard Auxiliary offers excellent boating courses to the public and the Marina is home to a number of courses that will make anyone a better, safer boater.

Division 12 consists of 5 flotillas; 3 in MDR, 1 in El Segundo and 1 in Redondo Beach.  A consolidated list of Division 12 class listings can be found on the boating classes page of the www.smbcga.org website. 

Division 4 also has MDR flotillas.  The Division 4 website is http://a11404.uscgaux.info/ but does not appear to have a consolidated list of classes.  Check the individual flotilla sites or review the district list (next).

Flotilla 12-02 recently relocated to El Segundo after operating for 20 years in the Marina del Rey area.  12-02 is expected to offer the first public boating class in El Segundo this fall.

MDRSX.COM aka Marina del Rey Sailor's Exchange continues to live on even though founder Kay Miller has hung up her writing slate (maybe!).  As the webmaster who helped bring Kay's vision to life, I asked Kay if she would mind if I took over the website and pleased that she gave me her encouragement and blessings. 

MDRSX.COM will not only continue to be available but soon will offer features to foster increased community, interaction and commerce in the MDR and surrounding areas.  Keep an eye open for the new Marina del Rey Sailor's Exchange!   Joe B.
